The 2 ways you can factory reset a Google TV Streamer

If you’re thinking of getting rid of your Google TV Streamer, you can factory reset it. But it’s also useful if it’s not working right or if you want to start fresh. Just remember to back up your data before you do it!

Notes: When factory resetting your TV Streamer, it will not revert to a previous version of its operating system. You should also have your TV Streamer connected to the internet. This is to ensure that when it is factory reset. Your Google account is also de-registered from the device. If you fail to de-register your Google account from the TV Streamer. It will cause issues for the next person looking to setup the TV Streamer with their Google account.

  • From the TV Home Screen locate and select Settings.
  • Within Settings choose System – About.
  • Next we need to click Factory reset, then once again select Factory reset.
  • We now need to choose the option Erase everything.

Note: Just a heads up, the TV Streamer is about to get a fresh start. This means your Google account will be de-registered from the device, and everything will be wiped clean – settings, apps, and data. While the device is resetting, please don’t unplug it or turn it off. You’ll know it’s done when you’re asked to pair your controller.

Typically you would factory reset a TV Streamer via the device, if your TV Streamer becomes unresponsive or freezes when resetting from the user interface.

  • Locate the reset switch on the back of the TV Streamer.
  • Press and hold down the reset switch for 10 to 12 seconds or until the status light turns to a solid orange.
  • When you release your finger from the reset switch the TV Streamer will begin to factory reset.
