In this video, we’ll show you how to deregister and factory reset an Amazon Echo Spot. This process will remove the Echo Spot from your Amazon account, along with any settings, apps, and data it has. So, if you’re planning to give it away, sell it, or put it out of service, you’ll need to do this. 
Note: Just a heads up, if your Echo Spot is acting up, restarting it might just do the trick. But if that doesn’t work, you could also try a factory reset. It’s like giving the Echo Spot a fresh start, and it might just fix your problem. 
To properly de-register and factory reset your Echo Spot, it needs to be connected to the internet. This way, the Spot can be removed from your Amazon account. But if you got a second-hand Echo Spot and the previous owner hasn’t de-registered it, you won’t be able to set it up with your Amazon account. 
  
- Open the Amazon Alexa app
 
- Select Devices
 
- From the list of devices, locate and select your Echo Spot
 
- From the pop up window tap the Settings icon
 
- In scroll to the bottom of Settings and tap Deregister
 
- When asked if you are sure that you want to deregister this device, choose Deregister
 
Note: After choosing to deregistering your Echo Spot. As long as your device is connected to the internet, it will also remotely factory reset itself.
  
- From the Amazon Echo Spot, tap the screen, and swipe down to display a shelf of icons.
 
- Select the Settings icon
 
- Within settings locate and choose Device Options
 
- Under Device Options tap Factory reset
 
- Select Reset to Factory defaults
 
- Now choose Reset
 
Note: The option “Reset, but retain Smart Home Device Connections” is designed to help speed up the process of reconfiguring your Echo Spot. Something that is useful in the event that a factory reset will fix a particular issue. 
  
- On the top of the Echo Spot locate the control buttons
 
- Press the volume down button and switch the volume to zero.
 
- Now locate and press the microphone off button
 
- Using two fingers, press and hold down both the volume down and microphone off buttons for 25 seconds.
 
- When you release your fingers, the Echo Spot will factory reset itself and deregister from your Amazon account.
 
Note: Performing a factory reset on an Amazon Echo Spot, will take roughly 1 minute to complete. However, while the Echo Spot is being reset do not remove the power from the device, as that can permanently damage its operating system.
