If you’re having trouble loading Windows, there are a few tools you can use to troubleshoot or fix the problem. So in our video, we’ll show you how to access Advanced Startup and give you a quick overview of the tools on offer.
Notes: Before using any tools in Advanced Startup, make sure you have a backup of all your data. If your computer is encrypted, you’ll also need your Windows BitLocker encryption key.
While there are numerous ways to access Advanced Startup. We have listed the two ways that we find most reliable.
- From the Windows desktop select Start – Settings.
- Within Settings click on System.
- Now choose Recovery – Advanced Startup.
- With your computer powered down.
- Power it on, but as soon as the manufacturers logo appears press and hold down the power button for 10 seconds or until it powers down.
- Power up your computer again, then once again at the manufacturers logo switch it off, by holding down the power button for 10 seconds.
- Switch on your computer for the third time, but this time let it try and boot. It automatically takes you to Automatic repair.
- On the Automatic repair screen select Advanced options to take you to the Advanced Startup menu.
