Note: In order to reinstall the firmware on your Apple HomePod, you will need to use a Windows computer running Apple iTunes. It’s also worth noting that not all USB ports on your computer, might be able to power your HomePod. So in the video we used a USB type C to USB adapter – USB Type C to USB 3.0 Adapter.
- Connect your Apple HomePod to your computer using its USB cable.
- Open Apple iTunes
- Within iTunes you will be presented with a summary of your Apple HomePod
- Select Restore HomePod
- You will be prompted with the following message “Are you sure you want to restore the HomePod to its factory settings? All your media and other data will be erased, and newest version of the HomePod software will be installed.“
- Select Restore and Update
- When informed about the HomePod software version, choose Next
- Now Agree to the User Software License agreement
Notes: As your computer will have to download the latest version of the HomePods firmware, it may take a considerable amount of time to restore your HomePod, as the whole process is dependent on the speed of your Internet connection.
- When you are notified that your HomePod has be restored to its factory defaults, you can disconnect your HomePod from your computer.
