In this video we demonstrate how we connect a Google Nest Wifi router to a broadband (ADSL/VDSL) modem. We also briefly explain what Double NAT is and how to avoid it. In order to avoid Double NAT you will be require to change the existing hardware that you are currently using.
As we can not provide specific details regarding the hardware you are using, in order to work out how to place your broadband hub into Bridge/Modem mode. You may need to contact your Internet Service Provider. The newer models of broadband hubs provided by ISP’s, often do not have the ability to work in Bridge or Modem mode. If that is the case you may find that you have to purchase your own ADSL or VDSL modem.
Note: – In Google’s article Fix Double NAT when two routers are running at the same time. Its worth noting that Google recommend that you remove your existing ISP provided modem. A popular model in the UK seems to be the DrayTek Vigor 130 VDSL/ADSL modem. However before making your purchase, make sure that your ISP will allow third party hardware on their network.
