How to transfer photos and video from Android to an Apple Mac

In this video we demonstrate how you transfer photos and videos from your Android handset to an Apple Mac computer. Something that is very handy if you prefer to manage your photos from your computer. However where this technique is particularly useful, is if you need to manually backup photographs and videos stored in your camera roll.

Note: You will need to use a USB cable in order to connect your Android smartphone to your computer. However it should be noted that not all USB cables are the same. As some are manufactured to allow the transfer of data and power, while others can only transfer power.

  • Connect one end of the USB cable to your smartphone, and the other to your computer
  • From within macOS open Spotlight Search
  • Using Spotlight Search type: Image Capture and press Enter on your Keyboard to load the program
  • You now need to unlock your smartphone
  • Returning to you Mac, you will find that Image Capture is displaying your smartphone under Devices
  • Select your smartphone
  • Image Capture will list all of the photos and videos stored on your phone
  • You can now either copy and paste photos and videos to your computer, or delete them from your camera roll
