Something that is very handy if you prefer to manage your photos from your computer. However where this technique is particularly useful, is if you need to manually backup photographs and videos stored in your camera roll.

Note: You will need to use a USB cable in order to connect your Android smartphone to your computer. However it should be noted that not all USB cables are the same. As some are manufactured to allow the transfer of data and power, while others can only transfer power.

  • Connect one end of the USB cable to your smartphone, and the other to your computer
  • Windows will display a notification informing you that a your smartphone has been detected
  • You now need to unlock your smartphone
  • Returning to Windows, open File Explorer
  • In the sidebar of File Explorer, select This PC
  • In the main panel under Devices and drives, you will find listed your smartphone
  • Select your phone to display Internal shared storage
  • Browser your phones storage

Note: You will see numerous folders relating to where data on your phone is stored. In order to access your camera roll, locate and select DCIM.

  • Within DCIM, you will find a folder called Camera
  • Within the Camera folder you will find your photos and videos
