Make Apple Pages default to a blank document when opened

Issue:

Opening Pages (Apples free Word-processing application for MacOS) will display the templates page. However, you may prefer that Pages loads a blank page when you start the application.

Resolution:

  • Pull down the “Pages” menu and choose “Preferences”
  • Under the “General” tab find “For New Documents” and choose “Use template: Blank” (alternatively, you can change the default new document template to something else)
  • Open Pages to a new blank document on Mac
  • Close out of Preferences, changes will be noticed on next app launch
