How to locate a Nintendo Switch lost JoyCon – Using Search for Controllers

This video is more a tip for anyone who happens to misplace a Joycon for their Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch has a “Search for Controllers” function which uses the JoyCons vibrate function to help you locate missing controllers. So while not a perfect solution to finding a lost controller it may help if you happen to misplace your JoyCon.

Note: Just a heads up, for the Search for Controllers feature to work, the controller you’re looking for needs to have previously paired with your Nintendo Switch. Also if your controller isn’t vibrating, here are a few things you can try.

First, move the console closer to where you think it might be. Sometimes, controllers can get a bit too far away and stop vibrating. Second, try searching for the controller using a different console. You will also find that the controllers may not vibrate if:

  • They are too far away from the console.
  • They are out of battery or have low battery.
  • They are not paired to a console or are paired to a different console.
  • From the Home Screen locate and select Controllers.
  • Now from the list of options, choose Search for Controllers.
  • In the Search for Controllers using the vibration feature.
  • Select the missing controller to start the vibrator.
