If you want to share files with others but don’t want to give them full access to your Synology BeeStation, you can create a sharing link to a specific file. So in this video we take a look at how you create a sharing link within both BeeFiles, and the Windows version of BeeFiles for Desktop.
Note: The BeeStation Sharing function allows you to quickly and easily share files over the internet. However, it should be noted that if you link a file, that file potentially could be accessible to anyone indefinitely. So when sharing files we recommend that you use Link Protection, and remove links to files that no longer need to be shared.
- Open the BeeStation Web Portal and sign in.

- Load BeeFiles.

- Using the Category sidebar locate and highlight the file you wish to create a sharing link for.

- Right click the right mouse button to display a quick menu. Alternatively use the Link icon in the icon bar.

- A Share panel will appear, and “Enable sharing link“ will have been automatically enabled.

- Click on Link Protection to assign a password and an expiration date for your linked file.

- Select OK.

- Use the Copy link button to save the links address to memory. You can now paste that link into an email, messaging app or web browser.

Note: In order to use the BeeStation sharing link function. BeeFile for desktop must be running on your computer.
- Open File Explorer

- Navigate to either the My Files location (by opening BeeStation in the sidebar), or opening a folder that you have Sync’ed with your BeeStation.

- Highlight the file you want to create a Sharing link for.

- Right click that file with your mouse to display a Quick menu.

- From within the Quick menu select Show more options.

- In the expanded menu, locate and choose BeeStation – Get Link.

- A Share panel will appear.

- Toggle on “Enable sharing link“.

- Click on Link Protection to assign a password and an expiration date for your linked file.

- Select OK.

- Use the Copy link button to save the links address to memory. You can now paste that link into an email, messaging app or web browser.

- Open the BeeStation Web Portal and sign in.

- Load BeeFiles.

- In the Category sidebar choose Shared.

- A list of the files you are sharing will be displayed. Highlight the file you wish to edit or unlink.

- Now using the icon bar, select either the edit link or Unlink icons.

Note: The edit link icon will allow you to change either the password or expiration date of a link. However, do not muddle up the Unlink icon with the Delete icon. As the Delete icon will remove the file from your BeeStation and can also delete the sync you have with a folder.
